Price for carbon fiber pick & place arm
The carbon fiber pick & place arm of Refitech Composites has won an award at ESEF 2010 in the category for innovative material use. This lightweight arm is utilized in a cigars production machine causing a capacity increase of at least 40 percent. Momexx produced the molds which Refitech uses for laminating the carbon fiber parts of the arm.
Momexx congratulates Refitech on gaining this award and is proud that it took care of the engineering and production of the molds for this winning product. The production of molds for carbon fiber parts needs a different approach than normal plastic injection molds. The speed of heating and cooling the mold plays an important role in laminating a carbon fiber product. Besides, Momexx effectuated that the molds were user-friendly and made easy assembly of the bearings possible by using aluminium inserts.
Also good communication and consultations between the project leader of Momexx and Refitech during the construction and production of the molds contributed to the quality of the final result.
