EV-box chargepoint

In cooperation with ‘Naber Plastics’, Momexx produced environmental saving moulds for EV-box. That’s a load-point for hybrid and electrical vehicles.

Start of the project
After the placement of the final order, Momexx started first with an investigation about the possibilities of manufacturing the environmental saving moulds with optimal results. In this, Momexx looked at construction of the moulds, the refrigeration and the injection position, with the use of moldflow amongst others.

The moulds
The EV-box is manufactured with three one-cavity insert moulds: two moulds from about 3 ton for the frame and the encapsulation and one mould for the led-ring. There were also some parts of exchange placed into the moulds, for the realisation of manufacturing 2 product variations. During the construction, Momexx also decided what the best way was to construct environmental saving moulds . For the encapsulation of the led-ring, a hardened mould was chosen. The big moulds for the encapsulation are made of refined steel with hardened inserts.

First the trial-moulds were manufactured in the Netherlands. This was mainly necessary for the led-ring, because of the complexity of the product. After that, all moulds were manufactured in China, using engineered instructions from Momexx in the Netherlands. So the EV-box was a Dutch/Chinese project.

EV-box
The EV-box is a specialised product with a low production volume. The encapsulation is made from ABS and the led-ring from HDPE. On demand of the client, several diameters for connection possibilities can be placed into the EV-box. The EV-box can be produced in any desired colour, for example the colour of the company were the EV-box is placed. This is another product designed by Momexx - plastic molds manufacturer.
